FAREWELL MESSAGE
FROM MISS VIETNAM OF NORTHERN CALIFORNIA 1996

Mountain-View New Year's ParadeAs flowers begin to blossom, and birds rejoice in the fresh warm air, we gather once again to celebrate the coming of the Vietnamese New Year. For the 10th year, we are here again to anticipate the crowning of the new Miss Vietnam of Northern California. At this memorable time a year ago, I was luckily bestowed the title of Miss Vietnam of Northern California. For the past year, I did my best to live up to the expectations and responsibilities of this title. I represented the Vietnamese Community and enjoyed participating in many community events, such as parades, banquets, city functions, etc... Because of these experiences, I have come to better understand the Vietnamese community and the precious value of community involvement. I will never forget these priceless experiences.

San Francisco New Year's Parade But all these wonderful experiences would not have been possible without the time and dedication of Mr. An Ngoc Vu, Mrs. Huyen Tran, and Mr. Tuy Le. To you "three musketeers," I would like to thank and tell you how much I appreciate your encouraging words, support, and guidance. I also want to thank all of last year's contestants and my court - what an awesome group we were. To all the sponsors of the Miss Vietnam Tet Pageant, thank you for all your prizes and continuous support. Most importantly, I would like to thank my family, especially my mom and dad for all they have done for me.

Arena 96 ConcertNow my reign has come to an end, and I would like to wish the new Miss Vietnam of Northern California a most memorable and joyous year. Be a great representative and example, but most importantly - be yourself. I am passing this crown to you with mixed feelings of joy and sadness. I will miss all the great experiences that you will soon enjoy.

Sincerely,
Nguyen Thi Phuong Anh
