I am especially proud of the fact that, despite myself being a non-native English speaker and having lived in America for only a short period of time, I have worked very hard to attain a level of educational and professional success that is probably equivalent to the majority of other Americans. A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Engineering from UC-Davis is a result of all that dedication and hard work I have had to put forth. Having said that, however, I fully realize that I still have to try even harder, for I still have much more to learn, if I want to one day reach my goal of being able to use my skills and knowledge to help myself and my family, in addition to being a productive member of our larger society.
If I am fortunate enough to be crowned the honor of "Miss Ao Dai," I promise to use everything within my ability and newfound status to participate in and assist with activities within the Vietnamese community here in America, with the hope of being able to help strengthening and solidifying its base. In addition, I plan to also devote more of my time and energy to helping various other humanitarian projects to benefit such disadvantaged individuals as the orphans, the elderly, and other segments of our society that may not be as blessed and fortunate as the rest of us. I actually think that it's very important for us to try to help others who are in desperateneeds, especially if we have the potential to do so.
